Head’s Teachers Message: (Mrs Diane Khanna)
Dear Parents/Carers
GSCE and A level Results 2010
The Governors and I are delighted to be able to share with you the excellent GCSE results. 62% of pupils achieved 5 or more GCSE’s at A*to C grade, up 9 percentage points from last year with 50% of pupils achieving 5 or more GCSE’s grades A* to C grade including Maths and English, up 11 percentage points from last year. The school has shown marked academic progress in the last 2 years with GSCE results improving significantly. 99% of all students who joined us achieved a qualification.
The year 13 ‘A’ level results yet again were also outstanding. We achieved 100% A-E grades so every pupil passed all their subjects. We achieved 30% A* to B grades and over 63% A* to C grades. The vast majority of our pupils have managed to secure their future pathways with many achieving their first or second university places. The continuing success of Welling school has led to a trebling in demand for 6th form places from students both from within Welling school and from other schools.
Staff and pupils have worked very hard, with incredible support from parents and are to be congratulated on this achievement.
It also gives me enormous pleasure to announce that Welling School has been recognised by the Specialist Schools Achievement Programme for “it’s excellence in its Visual Arts specialism”. We have recently been awarded Arts Mark – Silver, an award which is public recognition of excellence of our art provision and a commitment to the development of young people. We have also lately gained the Investors in People Bronze Award. The Bronze Award is an mark of our commitment to continuous improvement, and we look forward to the challenge of working towards the Silver and Gold levels over the coming years.
Please do take time to look through our website for more information on Welling school.
Best wishes
